Rules for Posts
Posts may either list an item or items being offered for free, announce a search for a free item, or inform members that a previous item offered is no longer available.
All other messages are strongly discouraged, except for administrative notes by the list moderators.
Please do not post more than three messages to the list per day (this includes “taken” messages). Group your items under categories such as “Maternity”, “Toys”, or “Children’s Books” rather than posting items individually. You may of course post any number of items within each message.
All correspondence between individual members should take place off list.
Rule for Items Offered/Shipping
The item must be free.
The item must be able to be shipped within Japan or to Japan. Arrangements regarding shipping will be taken care of by individual members, OFF LIST.
The FreeStuffJapan List, and the list moderators (by extension) will bear no responsibility for items that have been broken or damaged in any way in shipping, or for unpaid shipping expenses in ‘chakubarai’ (recipient pays) shipping arrangements.
Rules for Receiving
The FreeStuffJapan List and the list moderators (by extension) take no responsibility for failed shipping, failed item receipt, or failure of the receiving party to pay shipping charges. All individual agreements are between members are made at your own risk.
If you make an agreement with the owner of an item to pay shipping charges for ‘chakubarai’ shipping, you are responsible for both picking up the item within the designated time window from the post office or shipping company (or contacting them), and paying the shipping necessary charges.
Role of the Moderators
Please remember that the moderators are volunteers and that they will limit their involvement to the management of the list and will not take sides in any disputes between parties, act as a negotiator, or offer any compensation for transactions that are not completed as expected.
